Current Nepali syllabus context¶
Summary of what public sources report about data and computing in the current curriculum.
| Stage | Subject | What is reported | What this curriculum adds |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gr 8 | Compulsory Maths – Statistics | Pie chart, mean, median, mode; textbook is calculation-heavy (Springer analysis) | Ask → collect → analyse → interpret; misleading graphs; data ethics |
| Gr 9–10 | Optional Computer Science (2080) | Gr 9 mentions SQL; Gr 10 Python, DBMS, AI & contemporary technology | Applied data analysis on real data; PPDAC; dashboards |
| Gr 11–12 | NEB Computer Science | DBMS, web, C, OOP, trends; no Python or data analysis | Enrichment units mapped to NEB topics |
| 2026 | CDC curriculum revision | Task force from Apr 2026; consultations to 16 Sep 2026; "AI and ICT" thematic committee (Kathmandu Post) | Adoptable unit pack |
Design consequence: because Computer Science is optional, Track A (no-code, inside compulsory Maths, Science and Social studies) carries Grades 8–10; Track B (code) is for CS students, clubs and Grades 11–12. Every Track B unit has an unplugged alternative or prerequisite.
