Grade 8 — Data detectives (no code)¶
Tools: paper, calculator, spreadsheet, CODAP · Units: 8 · Lessons: 24 (+ projects)
Grade 8 builds the habit of a statistical investigation without any programming. Students ask a question, collect or read a small table (their own class, plus one district-level table), summarise it, and defend a claim with evidence. It adds what the compulsory Maths statistics chapter usually lacks: forming questions, fair collection, interpretation, and data ethics.

Flagship project: Our class, our school — a class survey plus one district table become a one-page poster with a claim and evidence
Every chapter now has, after its lessons: a unit summary, practice exercises (★ recall, ★★ apply,
★★★ think deeper; answers in the teacher guide) and exercises with real data using free datasets listed in
docs/datasets/free-datasets.md, each with an offline fallback. Unit 8 ends
with a "ready for Grade 9?" checklist.
Each unit folder holds: chapter.md (student), teacher-guide.md, project.md, quiz.yml, datasets.yml
(and notebooks/ where code is used). Nepali chapters: see community/translations/STATUS.md.
