Student data: consent and anonymisation checklist

Use before any class survey, school weather station or student-generated dataset is added to a lesson or to this repository.

Before collecting

  • [ ] Teacher/school approved the activity.
  • [ ] Students (and guardians where required) were told why we collect, what we will do with it, and that saying no is fine.
  • [ ] We collect only what the question needs (no names, no exact addresses, no sensitive fields without a strong reason).
  • [ ] Every student gets a code (S01, S02…); the code–name list is kept by the teacher only and destroyed after the project.

Before sharing or publishing

  • [ ] No names, photos, phone numbers or exact locations.
  • [ ] Small groups (fewer than 5 students) merged or hidden so nobody can be recognised.
  • [ ] Guardian/school permission to publish.
  • [ ] Dataset card written (docs/templates/DATASET_CARD_TEMPLATE.md); licence CC0 or CC BY.
